favourite classical pieces
I picked up these interesting cards at the West Vancouver Memorial Library the other day. I found the choices of the various people and music professionals very telling about the slim appreciation (…knowledge?) of contemporary – or whatever newer – repertoires. All the listed composers are European with a couple American, no Canadian composers at all. The only recent work mentioned in the various lists is Alfred Schnittke’s String Trio,* written in 1985. Thank you Marc ; )
