The Story of Cedar
ART and the six senses of Cedar
Curated Art Exhibition OCTOBER 16-25
SEASIDE CENTRE, 5790 TEREDO ST. SECHELT
This experiential art exhibition will feature ‘multi-dimensional’ visual and sensory perceptions of how a select group of coast-based artists interpret the subject of CEDAR. Influenced by different cultural backgrounds and the senses of sight, sound, touch, taste, smell, and spirit, visual artists, sculptors, fibre-artists, writers, musicians, and multi-media artists will come together to collaborate in a journey of self and collective discovery for this special Sunshine Coast community curated art exhibition.
OPENING PUBLIC RECEPTION:
Thursday, October 15, 7-9pm
CYCLES AND RINGS
‘Cycles and Rings’ is a truly ambitious piece of work by Giorgio Magnanensi. The artist has painstakingly mapped the rings of a cedar, and translated it into both visual beauty and stunning audioscape – you’re literally listening to the cedar, and this is through cedar flat audio panels hand planed and sanded down to 5 millimeters. There is no way to adequately describe it. You simply must be in its presence and you will experience cedar in an entirely new and unexpected way. (Laurie McConnell)
